MUSIC fans are in for a treat this Bank Holiday Monday, as the two-piece band Two Timers comes to Worcester's Marr's Bar.

Since forming in Paris in 1993, the duo - vocalist/drummer/harmonica players Sarah James and guitarist Gordon Russell - have wowed audiences across Europe with the sheer intensity of their shows.

Their formidable live reputation has seen them undertake a 40-date theatre tour of France and earnt them guest spots with artists as diverse as the Corrs, John Mayall, Taj Mahal, Maceo Parker, Joe Satriani and the Stranglers.

On returning to the UK in 2000 they guested on a 25-date tour of major venues across the UK as opening act for none other than Status Quo.

Tickets are £4 in advance or £5 on the door.

PREPARE TO DO BATTLE WITH SCOTTISH BAND

SCOTTISH musical stalwarts Battlefield Band will be bringing their rich heritage of Celtic music to Worcester's Huntingdon Hall next week with a passionate performance at the venue.

Taking their name from the Glasgow suburb, the band have been going strong for 30 years and will be presenting their mixture of old and new music played on a unique fusion of ancient and modern instruments.

The group - who were voted Best Live Band in the first Scots Trads Awards in November 2003 - will be taking in the city as part of a tour of England and Scotland marking the release of a new album, Out For The Night.

And for the shows they have invited four of the best musicians from Uzbekistan to join them.

Their show takes place in Worcester on Wednesday, June 1, and tickets are £12.50.

FESTIVAL LOOKING FOR NEW BANDS TO PLAY

NEW and up-and-coming bands in the West Midlands are being offered the chance to perform in front of Edinburgh Festival crowds as part of the Fringe Sunday.

On Sunday, August 14, the Performing Rights Society's New Music Stage will feature an energy-packed line-up of new music talent in the UK.

Bands will also perform in front of music industry A&R professionals and the Press.

The PRS and Fringe Sunday is now looking forward to receiving demos.

"PRS' New Music Stage at Fringe Sunday enables emerging talent to showcase in front of enthusiastic Edinburgh audiences and music industry professionals alike," said Jo Prowse of PRS.
