Steam engines, falconry and woodcraft demonstrations are among many attractions at Eastnor Castle this weekend.

Activities for all ages will take place throughout Sunday and Monday (May 29 and 30) at the Eastnor Steam and Woodland Fair.

The British Lumberjack Sports Association will wield their axes for some spectacular arena displays, while an array of woodcrafts artists will demonstrate their talents.

Among the exhibitors is blind Malvern wood craftsman Peter Bentley, who will display his intricate cane, rush and woodwork.

Mr Bentley, who lost his sight at the age of 21, creates and repairs furniture at his home in Madresfield Road, using skills developed over 17 years.

"I do about six or seven shows a year," said Mr Bentley. "But I really like doing the Eastnor show.

"I've done work for James Hervey-Bathhurst before, so I'm looking forward to it."

Peter Norbury, of Norbury's Saw Mills, Leigh Sinton, and Dave Jackson of Wild Wood Coppice Crafts, Malvern, will also feature at the event.

Children will be well entertained with rides on mini Land Rovers, provided by Steve Gardner of Malvern.

Brave fundraiser Katy Wilkinson will enjoy the event from a great height.

She will sit for six hours on an enormous mechanised platform, to raise funds for Malvern Special Families, where she volunteers as a playworker.

Last year's event attracted more than 5,000 visitors and organisers are hoping for even better figures this year.

"It's a good day out for all the family," said Eastnor Castle spokeswoman Sarah Bullock.

"There's something for everyone, from the spectacular lumberjack display to the children's mini-Land Rovers and tug-of-war. It really is great fun."

Events take place from 10.30am to 5pm.

Admission is £7 adults, £4 children and senior citizens £4.
