MOST of the inhabitants of Stow must have winced at the flowery prose used by your correspondent to describe Stow Fair (Journal, May 19).

The dashing horsemen may well have wowed the ladies at the fair but here is one lady who certainly was not wowed by the uncouth behaviour of some of the travellers. Your reporter should try living here in Stow in the week preceding the fair. His rose-tinted glasses might well have steamed up if he had to put up with the vandalism, anti-social behaviour and disgusting mess so aptly described by Alan Simpson's letter in the same issue of the Journal. Instead of just showing your readers cosy pictures of gypsy caravans why not show a few images of the other side of the coin - the litter and damage that is left behind and the clean-up which the council tax payers of Stow have to pay for.
