THE sky will be filled with flying objects of all shapes and sizes next weekend when Stourport Riverside Meadow hosts a kite festival.

The event, on Sunday, June 5, has been organised by Wyre Forest District Council and Team RIKOK, Really Interesting Kites Over Kidderminster, and will feature live music by 60s cover band, Move It.

District council spokeswoman, Suzanne Johnston-Hubbold said the event was aimed at everyone, from kite-flying novices to experts.

There will be displays accompanied by live commentary throughout the day, as well as trade stands offering the latest equipment and advice, she said. Nearby will also be a bouncy castle, children's play area and amusements.

The district council's cabinet member for community and leisure services, Nathan Desmond, said the event promised to be an excellent day out for all the family.

He added the festival was well-supported when it was first held in Brown Westhead Park in Wolverley two years ago and around 400 people flocked to it.

He said: "Once again there is entertainment for all and it's free."
