AN exhibition of work by Matisse goes on show at the Tack Room Gallery, Stables Craft Centre, Bridges, Monmouth, from Saturday.

Between 1950 and 1954, Matisse created some highly innovative, brightly coloured gouache paper cut-outs. Illness had confined him to a wheelchair and arthritis made it difficult for him to paint.

In 1953 it was decided to reinterpret these works as lithographs.

It is a great chance to see one of the most famous 20th century artists work on sale in the local setting of the Tack Room Gallery, where you can also take tea.

Art historian David Addison will give a talk about the works tomorrow night (Friday) at 7pm. For details contact Angie Sayer on 07779 680114.
