ANYONE who took part in The Gathering Wave 2003 will be pleased to hear that 2006 will see a repeat of the event.

For those new to the project, there is a treat in store.

Organised by the community music charity, The Music Pool, the event sees adult singing groups, schools' and children's groups unite to perform a repertoire of world music, and to learn and perform a piece specially composed for the event by Ken Burton, conductor of the London Adventist Chorale.

It will be a great opportunity for schools and singing groups to sing with Denise Leigh - winner of Channel 4's Operatunity - in the prelude to the Three Choirs Festival on August 4, 2006.

Denise, who has overcome her blindness to achieve her dream career, will sing solo items and join the choir as a soloist for the piece.

All music will be provided and help with learning the songs will be available for those groups and schools that need it.

Two or three massed rehearsals will be arranged prior to the event, which were great fun last time.

In 2003, 150 singers aged between eight and 88 united in their celebration of music and this time, with Hereford Cathedral as a venue, The Music Pool hopes to encourage even more.
