ONE of the greatest literary figures of the 19th century comes under the spotlight in a drama being staged in Pershore this weekend.

Wilde at Heart is coming to Number 8 with a look at at the life, loves and works of Oscar Wilde.

The narrative comes from two actors, Patrick Marley and Genevieve Allenbury, who introduce the audience to Wilde himself, his friends and enemies and more of the colourful characters of the period. The text is taken from letters, diaries, reminiscences and contemporary accounts, as well as from Wilde's plays.

Wilde at Heart is on Saturday at 7.30pm. Tickets, £10, are available from the Number 8 box office at the arts centre in High Street, Pershore, or by calling 01386 555488.

l Pershore people will also be sure to turn out in force for the next Number 8 show, coming from Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society - Swing with Pinafore. The show will will be putting a new rhythmic twist on the Gilbert and Sullivan classic and the Pods will be on stage from June 14 to 18.
