A MAN who co-founded a new concept in Wyre Forest clubbing - Battle of the DJs nights - is set to pack up his decks and discs and pioneer his brainchild in Ibiza.

Thirty-year-old Adam Robins, who set up Deuce Soundsystems with his friend Simon Jevons, has given up his day job as a sales representative to pursue his dream of jetting over to the Balearic Island, where he will help a friend run a bar in San Antonio Bay for five months.

At this club, The Golden Gate, he will hold Battle of the DJ competitions featuring turntablists from as far afield as Australia, Germany and Holland.

This is after making contact with DJs wishing to take part in the events via dance music websites, where posted messages about the venture.

"I've been inundated," he said, explaining demos had been sent to the boat where he lives on the River Severn in Stourport from Australia, Ireland and Poland - to name a few countries.

He is also offering Wyre Forest DJs who are planning trips to the island that has become a clubbing mecca the opportunity to play, and hopes to be in Ibiza by May 15.

"This is all I've wanted to do since leaving university but I got into sales and now - nine or 10 years later - I'm finally doing it," said Adam, who studied landscape architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University.

He added: "Some people would say it's a bit of a midlife crisis packing my job in at 30 but I don't see it like that ... I've been to Ibiza three times in the last two years and it's amazing.

"As soon as I get off the plane I feel like I'm at home - it's such a cool place - so I just can't wait to get back there really."

The Stourport resident, who has been running Deuce for two-and-a-half years with Simon and putting on free parties since 1999, added: "My aim is to put free parties on for the many workers on the island who can't afford to go to pay the ridiculous prices the big clubs charge while at the same time raising the club's profile and the Deuce brand."

There is just one Deuce night to go at St Martin's Bar in Stourport before Adam jets off to the White Isle.

Billed as an Ibiza Warm Up, this will take place this Saturday and feature guest DJ Dave Bateman.

The monthly events will continue throughout the summer, while Adam is away, however, with regular sets by guest DJs, as well as residents, Gregg Chandan, Chad Parker and Lou Natique. More information can be found online at www.deucesoundsystem.co.uk
