A YOUNG farmer from the other side of the World is learning about British agriculture on an organic beef and arable farm on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Brendan Saunders, aged 20, from Whakatne, New Zealand, is spending seven months at Raymeadow Farm, Dumbleton, with Hubert Alvis.

Brendan grew up on the family farm in New Zealand and has worked on an organic farm there. But he got the travel bug and wanted to travel and see other countries and experience life in another part of the World.

He is also looking forward to leaning about more intensive farming methods.

Brendan has travelled with AgriVenture, run by the International Agricultural Exchange Association, who offer opportunities to young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to travel and work in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and Japan.

"Our organisation does everything for the applicants. All they have to do is apply and within a few week they can be on their way complete with visa, work permits, the lot," said UK's Agriventure manager Katie Hunt."

Naturally, as they are living with families, they are included in a lot of what the family does. They meet other participants from around the World and lasting friendships are formed."

Brendan, who is enjoying his work in England, said he would recommend Agriventure to anyone interested in travelling, combined with working and playing hard. To find out more about participating in Agriventure, call Katie Hunt on 0800 783 2186 or 01945 450999 or email uk@agriventure.com.
