Eardisley Little Theatre and Barebones Theatre Company shared the honours in the 68th annual Herefordshire Drama Festival, which concluded last Saturday.

The winner's cup went to Eardisley Little Theatre for its interpretation of September in the Rain, by John Godber; along with the awards for best actor - Paul Davis - and best actress - Sheila Hobden.

Barebones Youth took the novice cup, for best youth team and its director David Baldwin received the best director cup.

Armchair Theatre Company was runner up with Harold Pinter's Landscape. Other awards went to The Satellite Players (best setting), Bodenham WI (WI shield) and Frank Ryding (best original play).

Festival newcomers, the Savoy Players from Monmouth, took the champagne award and Bromyard's Conquest Youth team got the adjudicators award for its commitment and teamwork.

The Conquest Theatre Bromyard also previewed The Hollow Crown which it is to stage in April.

Eardisley Little Theatre and the Armchair Theatre Company are through to the western divisional final of the All-England Theatre Festival, in Evesham on April 23.
