Gardening Society: The society met on March 17 at the Crawford Hall. The speaker, Len Salt, had been head gardener at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens for 30 years in spite of his headmaster telling him on leaving school that he was too intelligent to be a gardener. He spoke with enthusiasm and humour on his subject, A Closer Look at Trees.
The competition for a photo of a tree or trees was won by Paul Reeves, second Liz Heneghan, third Andy Cox and fourth Jan Bolstridge. There were a record 22 entries in this competition.
The next meeting on April 21st will be an evening with Ken Whittaker, the subject of which is a secret. The competition will be any three narcissus stems. Visitors welcome, for information call 01789 268974.
