THE Italian Job: LA Heist is based on the new blockbuster film currently showing at the cinema.

LA Heist's main mode is the story mode. This involves completing missions in the legendary Mini, whether it's to reach a certain destination or race.

Sadly the gamer is confined to the Mini so there are no exploration elements to the game. Graphically the game is bright, bold and solid to look at.

Gamers will notice the reflective metallic surface of the car and the tyre marks that the Minis leave when screeching around corners.

In addition to the somewhat brief story mode there is a stunt driving and circuit racing mode. No modes last a huge amount of time with six circuit races, four stunt courses and 11 missions in story mode. The game is enjoyable while it lasts but seems to be missing a "wow" factor.

There are various things to unlock such as extra cars, concept art and stills but once this has been done there is little incentive to keep playing.

Damage plays a nice part in The Italian Job with exhaust fumes clouding the view if the gamer has suffered a severe dent, while paint chips off the car if gamers scrape the side of a wall.

Although gamers may be impressed by this and the droplets of water that trickle down the screen when splashing through a puddle, The Italian Job: LA Heist remains an average game.
