WITH a selection of prequels on the PSONE, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain has a lot to live up to.

In terms of meeting the expectations set there are both high and low points that will be encountered throughout the endurance of the game.

Gamers will firstly note that it is progressively harder than its predecessors, although this means a harder challenge and more moments that concentrate purely on stealth.

It also detracts from the fast-flowing gameplay and means that gamers may frequently find themselves stuck in little sections of the game as they are instantly shot as soon as they progress deeper into Syphon Filter.

Rather than taking control of Gabe Logan, as with previous offerings, gamers create their own agent and can customise different characteristics varying from the expression on their agent's face to their name.

In short Syphon Filter is a stealth game that will provide gamers with entertainment. There's a whole host of weapons and gadgets to access and a lot of cool ways in which victims are killed.

Gamers will not be as immersed in The Omega Strain as they would in epic titles such as Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Solid.

It is even fair to say that Syphon Filter simply isn't as good as it once was.

However, despite these downfalls graphics and sound are of a high standard and perseverance and nerves of steel will enable gamers to complete a very rewarding title.
