BUDDING poets have been invited to put pen to paper and write about their lives in Wyre Forest for the chance to win £1,000.

Publisher, United Press, based in London, is running a contest to find the best poem about life in people's hometowns or regions.

Each entrant can send up to three poems - which must be no more than 20 lines and 160 words each - and the winner will receive the cash prize.

A spokesman for United Press said: "It can be about something or someone from the poet's home area.

"We find that poems written from personal observation and experience are the most heartfelt and expressive, so we're expecting some great entries from Kidderminster."

Entries can be sent to Local Poem, United Press Ltd, Admail 3735, London EC1B 1JB.
