SHORT films made by young people in Wyre Forest will be shown to audiences in Weavers Wharf next week.

A 10-seater mobile cinema, provided by Youthworcs, will be showing three productions titled Backfire, Trapt and Rose Red on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Backfire stars pupils from Birchen Coppice Middle School and was made in partnership with park rangers from Wyre Forest District Council.

The film, which looks at the issues of arson as well as the dangers of fire, was filmed at the Rifle Range by Kayelle Productions.

Trapt gives a platform through drama for young people to express their ideas about anti-social behaviour and being misunderstood.

A group of seven students from Stourport High School developed the film as part of their GCSE English coursework.

It was produced by Pablo Productions, with support from Wyre Forest Community Safety Partnership, Rainmaker-vf-Ltd and Born Communication.

The final film, Rose Red, is short horror movie made last year by a group of 13 to 15 year olds and was devised, scripted and acted in a week.

Production was carried out at The Rose Theatre by Wyre Forest District Council and directed and edited by Lynn Davis of Kayelle Productions.

This will be the first time the cinema has been in Weavers Wharf and Loz Samuels, the council's arts and play development officer, said she was expecting the cinema to be popular.

She added: "I think all the people involved would like to take their family and friends to see their films. If we are going to work with youths, then they should have the opportunity to show their films and people can have the chance to come and see them."

The cinema will be open from 10am until 4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and tickets are free. For further information, contact 01562 732977.
