CHURCH FETE: By permission of the publican of The King's Arms, the church fete took place on the lawns. Parishioners, villagers and visitors came along to join in the festivities, with background music provided by Morning Dew. The tombola was a success and bargains on the white elephant, books and gift stalls were sought after.

The children's art prize-winners were William Underwood, Jonathan Harding and David Harding. Matthew Webb was awarded a special prize for his drawing of the primary school.

Children's fancy dress, under fives - Georgina-Rose Smith, Jay and Amber Donaldson; 5-9: Rebecca Sears, Josuha Maher, Max Webb; over 9: Ben Webb.

Vegetable animal prize-winners were Rebecca Sears, Kerris Wallis and Georgina Righton. The treasure hunt was won by Ruby Cowley, Janet Faslem and Amber Donaldson.

Highlight of the afternoon was the tug-of-war between the victorious King's Arms Regulars and Mickleton Mauraders. The children's event was won by Killer Bees over The Exterminators and the ladies' team The Hopefuls beat The Rampagers.

There was a raffle with Mr Stone, Mrs Godwin and Rebecca Sears among the winners. An enjoyable day made more than £1,700.
