For those who haven't been taking much notice, it seems donkeys since we last heard from the brothers Reid.

You wouldn't have been surprised if you had found them working in a petrol station by now, or maybe an accountancy firm.

However, they have been busy touring and even released a Best Of compilation a few years ago.

It's easy to forget too that they have a pretty keen ear for producing a ridiculously snappy sound - full of foot-stomping, thigh slapping rhythms and throaty vocals delivered in that fine Scottish accent.

Most of Restless Soul is not unlike the two big hits the brothers are known for - I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) and Letter From America, which suggests that a) they like that sound or b) they're stuck in a rut.

Either way, the new songs are still tuneful, honest and sang with a bit of verve.

Bound for your Love has a nice bluesy lilt while The One Who Loves You Now sounds like a peculiar blend of Proclaimers/Elvis circa 1955.

Now and Then is a slow number which is a welcome break from what is essentially a fairly samey sounding collection of tunes. Not bad on its own terms.
