Wootton Wawen's Saxon Sanctuary is hosting an unusual recital, which will encourage its audience to 'dream on'.

Warwickshire's oldest church is the venue for a performance of three of JS Bach's Cello Suites, some of the most emotionally and technically inspiring solo music ever written.

An introduction to the concert this Sunday, September 4 at 7.30pm will help listeners make the most of the music and the surroundings by meditating or just letting the mind wander.

"The range of emotion this music covers is extraordinary", said vicar Canon Lawrence Mortimer.

"At times, Bach almost has you believing he has an orchestra at his disposal! Even if people are unfamiliar with the music, or indeed with meditation, by the end of the evening they will be hooked on both".

The soloist is local musician 25-year-old James Barralet, who as an international competition winner, now lives in Basel, Switzerland.

He has recently toured Korea, Bulgaria and Russia, and will perform the Bach Suites in Germany the week after his Wootton Wawen appearance.

He is due to perform at the Croft School in Stratford during October.

The concert at St Peter's Wootton Wawen this Sunday is free.

There will be a retiring collection and wine during the interval.
