CRAIG David was barely out of short trousers when he had his first hit, Rewind, which was a massive underground hit before it took over the top spot of our mainstream charts.

And for a while, due to hits like 7 Days, he was at the top of the tree when it came to Brits doing R 'n' B. Let's forget about the dismal Flava that compared women to different flavours of ice cream. Shame on him.

But there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then. In the couple of years it's taken to put this latest album together, Mr David has been knocked off his perch by Fame Academy runner-up Lemar. That's got to hurt.

However, onwards and upwards, as they say. Craig has abandoned the garage vein which was previously a winning formula for him and gone for more of a sexy Usher-esque sound.

Unfortunately he fails to pull it off because he has about as much sex appeal as a choirboy. He just comes across as far too "nice" to comfortably capture the vibe that is Usher's bread and butter.

Craig does try though - Just Chillin', All The Way and Hypnotic are prime examples - but perhaps he needs a few more nights on the tiles seducing the laydeez to be able to practice what he preaches.
