Explosive drama looks set to grip audiences at the Malvern Theatres from Monday, September 12.

A bomb disposal expert facing retirement is catapulted back into the limelight when terrorists strike, in Terry Mackay's new play National Hero.

Plunged into a personal and professional crisis, Gregor Tyrell is forced to chose between the woman he married, the woman he loves and international fame.

Set against a backdrop of global events, this timely new drama explores the battle between the personal and professional.

Established star of stage and screen, Timothy West, takes the lead role.

Timothy's illustrious career spans 40 years and includes the title role in King Lear at Malvern in 2002.

Olivier Award-winning actress Nichola McAuliffe performs alongside him.

Nichola has worked extensively on stage and screen, including television roles in Coronation Street and Surgical Spirit and a West End performance in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The play premiered at the Edinburgh Festival this month and Malvern is one of only three national venues where it can be seen.

National Hero runs at the theatres until Saturday, September 17.

Evening performances begin at 8pm, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.

Tickets range from £14 to £22, with £8 tickets for under-25s. To book, call 01684 892277 or visit www. malvern-theatres.co.uk.
