Could I ask your readers if any of them have amongst their forebears, a lady by the name of Alice Davis; born on the 27th August, 1869 in Blockley.

I don't know if she married, so it would probably need someone who is also interested in Family History Research to have knowledge of this lady so far back.

I do know that she was brought up by her Grandparents, John and Lucy Davis in Blockley and was still living with them on the night of the 1881 census. John was originally from Upper Slaughter. By the night of the 1891 census, Lucy was on her own and a widow.

Lucy, who was Alice's step-grandmother, was originally from Little Rissington. John's first wife, Charlotte nee' Webb, was her birth Grandmother and was form Great Rissington.

Alice's mother, Mary Ann Davis, was in service and this occupation took her up north to Cumberland, (now Cumbria). Mary Ann's brother, Charles, also went to live in Cumberland and their elder brother, William, went to live in the Stratford-on-Avon area.

Did the young Alice stay in Gloucestershire / Worcestershire or did she go to look for her mother? Any small pieces of information would be gratefully received.
