A FORMER member of a Kidderminster church will be jetting in from her Swiss home to perform in a benefit concert.

Beverley Worboys will sing during the concert at Baxter United Reform Church, in the Bull Ring tomorrow.

The Voices in Harmony Choir, from Halesowen, are also taking part in event, which begins at 7.30pm.

Choir secretary, Bill McBain, said: "We are holding this concert as a fund-raising event for the local churches in Kidderminster town centre as part of their move for an ecumenical centre."

The concert includes a wide range of music, from the classics to songs from the shows. Mr McBain said: "The programme will mean that there will be something to please everyone."

More than £20,000 has been raised by the choir for charities and good causes since its formation in 1997.

Beverley has just finished playing the part of Despina in a production of Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte in Lucerne in Switzerland.

Earlier this year, she sang the role of Venus in Jacques Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld in Zurich and Pamina in Mozart's The Magic Flute in Ascona, Switzerland.

Tickets for tomorrow's Baxter United Reform Church concert can be bought in advance from Rikki Twigg on 01562 884823 or at the door on the night.
