AN auction to raise funds towards the Worcestershire Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs new build project realised £2,077.

The project to convert the remainder of the building owned by the federation at Hawford into offices to provide the federation with a sustainable income has taken ten years to get to the point where work can begin. Now the members, along with the Building Trustees, have to raise £375,000, though Defra has agreed to provide some funding.

Lots at the auction at Elmley Lovett ranged from cakes, tool sets and bottles to a trip in a hot air balloon and a family ticket on the Severn Valley Railway.

County chairman Dene Hazelwood said: "We have a lot of work to do raising the money but we managed it ten years ago when we built our county office so I'm sure with the dedication of the Building Trustees looking after the project we will succeed again."
