NIFTY needlework by a group of local artists will be on shown at a textile art exhibition in Malvern.

The Malvern Makers are 11 textile artists who studied at Malvern Hills College.

Between the Lines, which is their fifth annual display, runs in Theatre House, Grange Road, from Monday, September 19 to Saturday, October 1.

Framed wall pieces, lamps, cushions, bags, tassels, jewellery, notebooks and bags will be on display and available to buy.

"There's a wealth of talent within the group and each artist uses the needle in a different way to create both functional and decorative contemporary art," said founder member Sarah Walker.

Work includes stitch and paper lampshades made by Mrs Walker, from Malvern, hand-made books created by Diana Sanderson, from Bastonford, and contemporary samplers by Malvern artist Hazel Saunders.

Sally Ziesler, from Malvern, is exhibiting contemporary stump work while Phyllida Lewis-Bowen, a Malvern artist who recently took a tassel and cord-making course, will have jewellery made with cords on display.

The exhibition opens daily from 10am to 4.30pm and a pair of artists will be on hand at all times to discuss their work. Admission is free.
