CONTEMPORARY effects and timeless writing meet in perfect harmony for the Palace Youth Theatre's production of Arthur Miller's classic The Crucible.
In the groups most ambitious work Miller's warning tale of a peaceful community that is torn apart by a witch-hunt is modernised with live projections, pre-recorded film and a host of other visual effects.
The play takes the constant surveillance themes of Big Brother and increases the paranoia even more and adds a modern twist to this classic tale.
Imagine a contestant from Channel 4's Big Brother show accusing another of being a witch and then burning them at the stake in the garden.
The peaceful community descends into a frenzied search for someone to blame after the normally god-fearing population start to fall apart and commit acts of debauchery.
Artistic director Nick Walker brings a creative flourish to the production. The shows runs from October 27 to 29 at Kingsley Theatre in Redditch (7.30pm start).
