THERE'S plenty in store for classical music fans at Malvern Theatres.

Malvern Festival Chorus is performing music from the age of elegance and enlightenment in a concert entitled The Music of 18th Century London.

Meanwhile, the Chandos Symphony Orchestra is offering pieces by Rachmaninov and Prokofiev at its concert at Malvern Theatres next week.

The Festival Chorus concert will open with Handel's great coronation anthem, Zadok the Priest. It was written for the coronation of King George II and Queen Caroline in 1727 and has been sung at every British coronation since.

The programme intersperses three other anthems with orchestral music from the period, performed by the Regency Sinfonia, including Handel's Messiah, Symphony No 5 by William Boyce and Concerto Grosso in B Minor by John Stanley, the 18th Century child prodigy who became Master of the King's Music.

The concert is on Saturday, November 26, and tickets cost £12.

Ahead of that, Chandos Symphony Orchestra performs at Malvern Theatres on Sunday, November 13.

The orchestra will be conducted by Michael Lloyd and will play Rachmaninov's Isle of the Dead and two pieces by Prokofiev.

Former Chase deputy head Aydin Onac is the soloist for Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No 3 and the orchestra will play extended highlights from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.

Tickets cost £9, £11 and £14, with concessions available.

The box office is on 01684 892277.
