Shows to brighten up the new year include the controversial Jerry Springer the Opera, Edward Scissorhands and the Vagina Monologues.
Ballet enthusiasts can see the Birmingham Royal Ballet perform a new interpretation of Pulcinella, as well as the return of Sleeping Beauty and David Bintley's Carmina Burana.
The Bolshoi Ballet will also return direct from Moscow, and the Welsh National Opera is set to impress with its performance of The Flying Dutchman.
