Monday, December 19: Attended a meeting with Town Clerk & representatives of owners of the Town Hall to discuss possible refurbishment works. Mid-morning joined Mayor of Pershore at Cherry Orchard House to sing carols to residents with Members & staff of Rooftop Housing Group.

Tuesday, December 20: Enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch with pupils and staff of The Vale School followed by more carol singing with mince pies at Almonry Close, Pershore. Today was completed by a splendid tradition carol service at All Saints Church, Evesham, with students & staff of Evesham High School. A really lovely way to start Christmas.

Wednesday, December 21: Joined the Headmaster of Evesham High School and the Revd. Mullings at the end of term carol service in the school, followed by making the draw for Evesham Shopmobility's traditional Christmas raffle.

In the evening we attended the Evesham News Carol service in Worcester Cathedral which was absolutely packed for this traditional and much appreciated service.

Thursday, December 22: The final carols with mince pies & sherry - this time at Yates Court, Evesham, where residents also enjoyed a pantomime - "Snow White", performed by 3 people (you might wonder how the 7 dwarfs were depicted - that is a secret known only to residents of Yates Court!) A very festive morning enjoyed by all.

Friday, December 23: Attended a candlelit traditional 9 lessons and carols service at Throckmorton Chapelry. This is always a very special service as the tiny chapel is always packed out with congregation from nearby villages.

Saturday, December 24: Although not a "mayoral" event, John and I joined staff and friends at Evesham Community Hospital to sing carols around the wards during the evening. (This is something we have both enjoyed doing for several years)

Sunday, December 25: Christmas Day! and the traditional tour of the wards at Evesham Hospital to give out presents. This was our final function before enjoying Christmas lunch & Boxing Day with family and friends.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

FRANCES SMITH, Mayor of Evesham.
