Things have gone a little crazy for Hereford-based 2 Faced Dance since their appearance at this year's Edinburgh Fringe, writes Julie Harries.

As reported in last week's Daily Telegraph, pop queen Madonna nearly enlisted the talents of the eight-strong troupe to spice up her current video.

One of Madge's "people" spotted the dancers performing at Edinburgh and mentioned them to the lithe diva.

"We got invited to a gig in London, where the boys did a few routines and some freestyle," said 2 Faced choreographer Tamsin Fitzgerald.

"Madonna's people thought they were phenomenal but too young.

"It was disappointing but to actually get that opportunity at that age with those people is fantastic."

As a result of the audition, 2 Faced were asked to dance at the post-show party at the recent MTV Awards in Lisbon.

"We've got more gigs coming up in London and it's been quite crazy," said Tamsin.

"The Madonna thing was just bizarre. I'm working at the art college one minute and then taking the team up to London the next. I can't get over it.

"It's now about keeping that contact - you never know."

The company also has some commercial work in the pipeline.

Having seen the video to Madonna's new single, Tamsin admitted that the dancers are "at the top of their field".

"My lot could have done it just as well though!"

2 Faced work out of the Courtyard in Hereford and have recently been awarded £25,000 funding from the Arts Council.
