LICENSEES in the Salford Priors area will need to be on their toes or they could find themselves in a little black book.

Residents with concerns about activities at their local pubs are being offered a simple complaints service by Salford Priors Parish Council.

A one-page Licence Incident Diary has been produced which allows neighbours to log and report anti-social behaviour, noise or other infringements of the new licensing law introduced in November.

Salford Priors councillor Kim James suggested the diary to offer comfort to residents worried about anti-social behaviour with later pub opening hours.

The concept, which has been adapted by the parish, is being used by Wolverhampton City Council and West Midlands police.

Any complaints will be sent to the licensing committee on Stratford District Council, who is charged with investigating all complaints.

Trevor and Mary Millwood, of Evesham Road, Salford Priors, were two of the many worried residents.

Mr Millwood said: "When the pubs applied for the late licence we were quite worried. But since the extended hours came into force we really haven't faced any problems."

The incident report sheets are available to download from the parish council website at www.salfordpriors.gov.uk and from the parish office at the Memorial Hall in Salford Priors.

Wychavon District Council also offer a similar service to residents who want to complain about noise and anti-social behaviour.

District council press officer Anne-Marie Darroch said all complaints are evaluated by environment officers and if the problems persist officers do have the power to review the licences of pub owners.
