A NEW Leisure Centre provides a wonderful opportunity for Evesham to acquire an outstanding 21st Century asset for the area. I hope that a cross party consensus of local councillors will make sure of that, right from the start of planning.
I envisage a building constructed from environmentally friendly materials with efficient insulation but maximum use of natural light. Photo-voltaic tiles can be built-in to generate electricity for heating/air-conditioning and solar panels for water heating. These will save energy and cut down on running costs.
We shall next need to decide who should pencil the expected opening date in their diary - Prince Charles of Jonathan Porritt, or both?
