SHARONA Joshua will perform an evening of Queen Elizabeth I virginals tomorrow (Friday) evening at Leominster's Lion Ballroom.

Sharona was born in Haifa, Israel and began playing the piano at the age of five. She won the Haifa Conservatory piano competition four years in succession and received her final diploma at the age of fourteen.

Based in London since 1996, she is a versatile performer who is equally at home on such diverse instruments as Renaissance piano, clavicimbalum, dulcemelos, virginals, chamber organ, harpsichord and classical and romantic period fortepianos.

Her career has included a wide range of radio and concert appearances, performing internationally as soloist and chamber musician.

Since 1998, Sharona has given several solo recitals each year at the Purcell Room in London's South Bank Centre.

Her programme for Leominster includes works by William Byrd (1543-1623), Ferdinando Richardson (1558-1618) and Thomas Morley (1557-1602).
