BROMSGROVE'S very own comedy band Rockin' Berries is returning to the town for a gig at the Artrix on Friday.

The group, which has been top of its profession for 30 years, is guaranteed to impress with its slick, professional show.

Through the 70s and 80s, the Rockin' Berries were one of the major attractions on the theatre and cabaret circuit, appearing in numerous summer seasons at holiday resorts and picking up plenty of awards along the way.

Billed as the second Brumbeat group to have a hit record, the band were eventually signed by Decca Records and went on to release two singles and the second - Itty Bitty Pieces - got them a TV appearance on Ready Steady Go! but neither was a hit.

The band progressed in the music world and in 19???, their re-recorded version of The Tokens' He's In Town reached No 3 in the charts.

After continued success, the band began to wane as the music scene changed but already well established as a cabaret act, the Rockin' Berries have continued to perform, despite changes of band members, as a popular music/comedy act around the country.

Tickets for the gig, priced £12 (concessions £10), are available from the box office on 01527 577330 or www.artrix.co.uk
