REDDITCH Orchestra's March concert will feature a showcase of famous classic masterpieces to impress music lovers at Kingsley Theatre this Saturday.
Performing a programme set to include Elgar's Enigma Variations, Tchaikovsky's ballet suite from Swan Lake and Brahms' Tragic Overture, the orchestra will be conducted by guest conductor Russell Abraham.
The Jersey-born musician is studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire and previous conducting experience includes the Jersey Premier Brass Band.
Russell won the 2003 Jersey Young Musician of the Year award and is currently principal timpanist of the CBSO's youth orchestra and the Jersey Symphony Orchestra.
And featuring in the Haydn Trumpet Concerto is soloist Ian Raisbeck, who has formed and manages his own successful brass quintet and was selected as principal trumpet for the Three Cities Orchestra - a project involving students from the UK, France and Germany.
Ian also won the Conservatoire Brass Prize in 2005 and was also a finalist in the prestigious Doris Newton music club prize.
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £6 (concessions £4, family tickets priced £14), are available from the town centre information kiosk and on the door on the night.
