Review - This Is Elvis at the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham (until Saturday)
FANS of the King are in for a right royal treat this week with this show packing them in.
The musical tells the story of Elvis' comeback in 1968 when he quit Hollywood to return to doing what he did best - being the king of rock and roll.
This Is Elvis is very much a show of two halfs. In the first half we see Elvis on his first live TV special and in rehearsals for his Vegas shows in 1969. But it is only in the second half that the production really comes to life.
It is quite easy to believe that you really are there at the International Hotel Showroom, Las Vegas, on July 1, 1969, watching the King in action.
This is only possible because Simon Bowman is simply brilliant as Elvis Presley. He's got the moves, he's got the looks and boy can this boy sing. For fans of the King this really is a show to catch.
