IT MIGHT look the same as before, but this Mercedes SL has been under the surgeon's knife.
Can't see the changes? Don't worry, most are under the skin of the German luxury manufacturer's flagship drop-top motor.
The car's engine range has been given a power boost, and the range-topping SL 600 now sports a 517 horsepower, bi-turbo V12 unit. All models come with a version of the company's seven-speed auto gearbox and there's an option to add gear change controls on the steering wheel for faster shifts.
Subtle changes to the SLs interior and exterior are complemented by suspension tweaks to cars with the maker's active body control system, plus a more direct and sporty steering set-up.
The car is officially launched at March's Geneva Motor Show and UK customers have a choice of three models SL 350, SL 500, SL 600, with prices running from £62,885 to £101,220.
