Review: The New Statesman - The Blair B'Stard Project at the Alexandra Theatre until Friday
RIK Mayall makes a triumphant return as the scheming politician that everybody loves to hate.
While it's been nearly 14 years since he last played money-grabbing political predator, Alan B'Stard, Mayall resumed the infamous part as if he'd never been away.
The only difference now is that the gruesome Mr B'Stard has switched sides and the new show is a foul mouthed riot of laughter attacking all the politicians seemingly too busy having extra-marital affairs and taking bribes to run Britain.
Add into the mix violence, perverted sex, death and a severed ear for a truly spicy show. Mayall was in his element amidst the chaos and even when he fluffed a line he was so masterful that he saved himself brilliantly.
Great support too in a what is a dark, lewd, hilariously rude and totally unsubtle attack on our current political map and all the better for it. PM
