SONGS from one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular operas will be performed by members of Kidderminster Choral Society on Saturday.

Singers will take to the stage to present a concert performance of The Gondoliers and will be joined by guest soloists, John Caldwell, as the Duke of Plaza-Toro, and Benjamin Seifert and Russell Painter as the brother Gondoliers.

Mike Elden will accompany on the piano and the conductor will be the society's musical director, Geoff Weaver.

Tickets for the concert, which will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Belbroughton at 7pm are available on the door. Refreshments will be served after the performance in the church hall.

On Sunday, June 25, it will be the turn of the society's youth choir to provide the entertainment with their summer concert.

The Wyre Forest Young Voices, which has singers aged between 10 and 18, will be performing at Baroque Church in Great Witley.

It will be an evening of choral and vocal music, as well as instrumental pieces for a saxophone quartet and violin duo.

The programme will also include lively traditional and folk songs.

Society publicity officer, Peter Knott, said: "We have some outstanding young performers. The audience can look forward to a dynamic, colourful and varied evening of music making."

The choral society's next performance will be an open air concert titled Music for a Summer's Afternoon, at Dudmaston Hall, near Quatt, in Shropshire on Sunday, July 2, conducted by Mr Weaver.
