High quality bespoke design and installation at affordable prices.

That is the straightforward claim a Kidderminster kitchen company is offering potential customers.

K.A.W opened for business last month and the message of owner Kevin Walsh is clear: "Upmarket kitchen design is within the reach of most people's pockets. You don't have to settle for flat packs that take ages to self-assemble."

Kevin, who lives in Kidderminster, has been in the kitchen design business for nine years, working for industry giants such as Magnet, but in recent years he has steadily built up his own kitchen design company and customer portfolio.

K.A.W is situated on Kidderminster's Lisle Avenue and their showroom is much more than a row of white goods or set designs of off-the-peg kitchen furniture.

Instead, they bring their designs to life by staging regular informal events where a chef cooks food in the showroom kitchens and customers can sample a drink and absorb the atmosphere as they get a feel for the type of kitchen designs they may want plus, of course, a chance to talk it over with K.A.W's expert team.

Not that creating the perfect kitchen is done from a remote office away from home. Customers aren't rushed through the design process.

"I am a consultant rather than a salesman. I will sometimes make several site visits and encourage customers to come in and talk to us because I want them to feel completely comfortable with what they are buying."

Indeed, Kevin prefers to be hands on. "I like to project manage a kitchen the whole way though. I want our customers to have the best kitchen they can afford."

K.A.W works within the major quality kitchen sector with companies such as Hatt, Intoto and Magnet- and will do as much or as little as the customer wants - from a minimalist design though to fitting a "fully accessorised" kitchen with all the latest gadgets and gismos. K.A.W's interior designer can advise on fabrics, flooring and lighting.

K.A.W's stylish kitchens boast a range of work surfaces including glass and granite - swish-looking sushi bars are replacing the more traditional breakfast bar.

"People are spending more time in their kitchens and they want to make the best use of space available. Getting things like lighting and dcor right is essential."

The average price of a K.A.W kitchen is around £8,000. You can buy cheaper in DIY stores or go more expensive with other designers but, ultimately, you get what you pay for.

"We don't go for high volume but high quality," says Kevin Walsh. "The secret is providing high quality kitchens at affordable prices."

K.A.W's average fitting price is a competitive £1,250 and they have two installation teams working with customers. "The DIY option looks good but you have to assemble the units yourself and there are fitting costs on top such as plumbing, electrics, lighting and gas connections."

So if you want your own kitchen, designed to your own specification, why not pop down to K.A.W and share a glass of bubbly and sample some home cooking while you mull over your options.
