Comic genius Jack Black returns to the silver screen in Nacho Libre, the tale of Nacho, a hapless monk in a Mexican monastery who dreams of becoming an unlikely wrestling star.

Nacho's dreams of grandeur are a desperate attempt to impress and win the heart of the beautiful Sister Encarnacion and to use his prize money to serve up better quality food to the orphan kids at the monastery.

In his bid for fame he joins Mexico's popular Lucha Libre wrestling curcuit with his partner Esqueleto.

The comedy is slapstick - numerous funny moments are created from the sight of the rather tubby Jack Black squeezed into his unflattering wrestling costume - complete with lycra shorts and curly wig and moustache.

Much like School of Rock the whole film centres around the energetic Black and is carried by his comic talents.

The comedy double act between Black and his wrestling partner Esqueleto (Hector Jimenez) does work really well however, producing some funny moments.

Directed and co-written by Jared Hess, of Napolean Dynamite fame, Nacho Libre is a family comedy which provides an entertaining trip out to the cinema and is well worth a watch. Jack Black fans will especially warm to its ample charms.
