DANNY Carey-Bertram returned from the Hereford United fringes with style as he bagged two handy goals in the Conference last night.

The striker, making his first Bulls start since January 31, pounced to rescue the visitors and secure a 2-2 draw, denting Morecambe's play-off hopes after they had twice taken the lead.

Carey-Bertram had been kept out of the starting line-up by Andy Williams and Stuart Fleetwood but made his comeback along with centre-half Dean Beckwith for the injured Tony James.

But Hereford made the worst possible start by conceding a bizarre opener on three minutes to Morecambe hot-shot Michael Twiss.

Goalkeeper Wayne Brown's clearance cannoned off midfielder Jamie Pitman and referee Karl Evans, allowing a grateful Twiss to lob home from 22 yards.

Hereford, second in the table, struggled to get back into the game and Brown was forced into good saves from Twiss and Ged Brannan.

The Bulls should have secured the perfect pick-me-up in the second-half on 49 minutes when Carey-Bertram pounced to sweep the ball home from Rob Purdie's nod-down.

But Morecambe were back in front just two minutes later through Danny Carlton who finished smartly past Brown from close range.

Both Williams and Fleetwood were introduced as the Bulls searched for another equaliser but Carey-Bertram was the man again in the 78th minute.

The former West Brom youngster headed in at the far post when 'keeper Steven Drench pushed away Fleetwood's fine free-kick.
