GO get em, tiger! How nice to read Peter Jackson's letter headlined "Building yet more roads is no answer to problem" (Thursday, June 2).

I have lost count of the number of times I have lambasted the "Development Mad" for unsustainable development in our city, Grove Farm, and Newtown, being their latest lunacies.

It fascinates me that our government levies "carbon taxes," because of "alarm" over carbon dioxide emissions, and looming global climatic disaster, but sees absolutely nothing wrong in chucking up millions more houses and buildings, thereby adding massively to our nation's output of carbon dioxide.

Aeroplanes are responsible for half the world's carbon dioxide emissions. Do you ever see "the environmentalists" chaining themselves to airliners? Houses are responsible for a quarter of our nation's carbon dioxide emissions.

Do you ever seen "the environmentalists" chaining themselves to new houses? Of course you don't!

"The car," which is responsible for a mere 10 per cent of carbon dioxide emissions, is always the villain of the piece.

The fact that it is housing, industrial and commercial development, and the huge expansion of air travel that are driving up our carbon dioxide emissions, and wrecking our climate is quietly forgotten.
