WORCESTER captain Pat Sanderson has claimed nothing less than victory will do as England jetted out to the Churchill Cup in Canada.

Sanderson will captain Joe Lydon's shadow side, who take on Canada next week for the right to play either Argentina or the United States in the final seven days later.

He knows an impressive showing will help his cause to be in England coach Andy Robinson's plans for this autumn's Twickenham internationals.

"We need to play with some real ambition but we have to make sure we win both games," said Sanderson.

"We've got a good squad together full of loads of talent and personally I'm just looking forward to playing with the team and looking to cement my position for the future.

"It's a massive honour to captain your country and it's something I am really proud of. I want to make sure I do the job well. Personal performances are massively important and I want to stick my hand up for the autumn internationals. But from a team perspective we want to win it."

Sanderson also warned an England team -- which includes Worcester's World Cup winning new boy Andy Gomersall -- to concentrate on hosts Canada, rather than look ahead to a likely date with Argentina in the final.
