FIREFIGHTERS were called to two house fires in Redditch at the weekend.
The first took place on the ground floor of a three-story house in St Georges Road, St Georges, on Saturday at 12.45am.
Firemen carried out a search of the house but all residents had managed to escape before the crew arrived.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Alec Mackie said: "The fire was fairly small and there were no casualties."
On Sunday, at 3.08am, firemen were called out again to a report of a blaze in a ground floor flat in Knowle Close, Church Hill.
Firefighters rescued one man from the flat who was later treated for smoke inhalation. They also used a ventilation system to clear the smoke-logged property.
"Once again this was not a serious fire but could have been a lot worse," said Mr Mackie. "At the moment, we do not know what caused either of the fires."
