CHILDREN dressed as pirates and sailors used treasure maps to discover species of exotic plants brought back to Croome Park from the high seas in the 19th Century.
The half-term activity at the National Trust park, near Upton, was one of several events taking place across the country as part of the SeaBritain 2005 Campaign celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
Wendy Carter, visitor services manager, said it had been a great success and that those who had worn sea-themed costumes for the day were given free entry.
Prizes for successful treasure hunters included stickers, bandannas and balloons.
The family treasure trail continues today and tomorrow.
