PUPILS at St Andrew's CE First School in Hampton were blown away last Friday as they took part in their annual balloon race.
Over the past weeks pupils have been busy selling balloons to friends and relatives. These were released in batches throughout last Friday.
The event does have a competitive edge though, with the buyer and seller of the balloon that travels the furthest each receiving £25. The balloons can be identified by a Spacestream.com logo, which is the company that sponsored the event. On the day itself, Simon Fletcher who is also a school governor, represented the company.
Headteacher Justin Schiff-mann said "The children always enjoy this race and last year we had a balloon returned from the South Coast, but this year we hope for one to make it abroad."
Money raised from the event will be used on new facilities for the children's playtime.
