STAFF at Evesham High School at Four Pools are digging in to try and establish the whereabouts of the original four pools.

"A feature of our Jubilee Garden which is to be officially opened on Friday, June 10 is a pond which we believe to be one of the original four pools," explained Jill Brooks. "It is a natural pond which our first head of science Bob Weaver put a liner in when the school opened 50 years ago and which we have incorporated into our Jubilee Garden."

She said she had looked at old Ordnance Survey maps and found what she believed to be two of the four pools.

"There must be two more somewhere and we would like to hear from anyone who might he able to supply the missing links," she said.

Mrs Brooks said the whole school site seemed to have a very high water table and when the school was first built the area flooded very easily.

She added that the pond in the Jubilee Garden is of great importance to wildlife, with kingfishers, ducks and geese among the host of birds attracted to the water.
