ANNUAL PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: The outgoing chairman, Mr W Llewellyn was thanked for his continued unstinting effort over the past year and was elected chairman for another year, his 10th. He thanked councillors for their past and continued support. Cllr Southcott was elected vice-chairman. Parish representatives on outside bodies were confirmed as follows: Fladbury Village Hall - Cllr Worthington, CPRE Liaison Officer - Cllr Mills, Evesham, Pershore and District Police and Community Consultative Group - Cllr Carter, School Governor - Cllr Southcott. Representatives were confirmed as follows: Planning - Cllr Southcott and Cllr McDonald, Mowing - Cllr Worthington, Footpaths - Cllr Mills, Publicity - Cllr Stephens, Lighting - Cllr Carter, Insurance - Cllr Cross, Village Appraisal - Cllr Southcott, Sporting Facilities - Cllr Anderson. Annual grants were agreed as follows: Fladbury Village Hall - £100, PCC for church clock - £30, CAB - £100, Cotswold Line - £25.

Bus stop - northern travel direction: The new bus stop had official recognition; the southerly bus shelter was still awaiting official signage. Parishioners at the annual parish meeting had requested a bus shelter and improved hard standing as a matter of safety.

Traffic census: WCC Cllr Eyre is to update the council on the recent traffic count outside the school.

Station road verge damage: Cllr Mills agreed to approach Cropthorne and Charlton parish councils to see if a tripartite approach to the problem could be made. Cllr Eyre said photographs or written statements were needed so that matters could be followed up. Salter's Lane was also a problem.

County councillor Liz Eyre was congratulated on holding her seat in the recent elections and for her efforts past and present. She said that Ringway will be taking over the roads contract from Raynesway, and that the WDC footway budget was swallowed up by one project at Wickhamford. The WDC roads budget of £4.5 million was already allocated. She said the road audit had indicated that the road quality for the area was good which, it was pointed out, did not appear to be reflected in this area. Roads and refuse, she said, were two key environmental issues that would be addressed by the new council. She said it was hoped that the gas main at Fladbury Cross would be replaced before finishing the current road work. Wharf sign: It was noted that a safety sign had disappeared off the wharf. Cllr Mills agreed to ask Patrick White if he knew why it was installed in the first place. Recreation ground/pavilion finances are to be studied for a decision at the next meeting as the cost of renting the pitch by the football teams had been queried. The ground and pavilion were subsidised by parishioners.

Next meeting - Monday, June 20 at 7.30pm in the Sports Pavilion.
