LAST CALL: The final reunion of Moreton branch of the Royal Air Forces Association was held at the Fire Service College on Saturday, May 21. Sixty who served there from 1941-1959 attended. Many friendships were renewed, one occasion was a meeting between two members who had not met since the war 63 years ago. The reunion opened at 11am with coffee served in the coffee mess, followed by a service in the fire service chapel. The service concluded with a blessing by Squadron Commander Edward Rainsberry - the last RAF chaplain to conduct a service at the base in 1958. Lunch was taken in the college dining room following in the afternoon by a comprehensive coach tour of the former airfield, now titled the fire ground where a number of fire exercises were taking place amid the lightening and heavy rain of the afternoon.
