THE OWNER of one of Kidderminster's oldest buildings has slammed vandals who smashed its historic windows, which were worth thousands of pounds.

Yobs threw large cobblestones through the leaded windows of the Tudor building in Church Street on Tuesday night.

Its owner, Margaret Plumley, said she was at a loss as to why anyone would want to damage the building, which was built in 1581.

She added: "It is just mindless. They have no respect for property, for the heritage of this town.

"All the people in Kidderminster know this building. It is our heritage and it is just being destroyed by wanton vandalism."

The 57-year-old lives on the top floor of the Grade II listed building and runs a financial advice business from the middle floor.

She said she saw two men pulling cobblestones from the ground before they were hurled through the windows at about 11.30pm on Tuesday night.

Two first floor windows and one ground floor window were damaged in the attack.

"We have had minor damage before but this is the worst we have ever had," Mrs Plumley said.

"We have paid for any minor damage before but this kind of thing will have to go through the insurers.

"We will have great difficulty repairing this now, I don't think the people that did this realise the damage they have caused."
